Vaporesso Vibe Pod Guide — Which Pod Fits the Vibe SE and SE 2?

The Vibe is one of the few kits where you never buy a coil. The coil is inside the pod, so when the flavour goes you change the whole thing - and that makes choosing the right pod the only decision you have to get right.

There are two to choose from, they look nearly identical on the shelf, and the difference between them is the difference between a satisfying vape and a disappointing one. Here is how to pick.

Which devices take Vibe pods

Vibe pods fit the Vaporesso Vibe SE and the Vibe SE 2, and they fit both ways round. If you have moved up from the older kit to the newer one, the pods in your drawer still work - nothing is stranded.

They do not fit anything outside the Vibe line. XROS pods are a different family entirely and will not go in, however similar the mouthpiece looks. If you are holding a device and are not sure what it takes, the coil finder will tell you from the name on the body.

The bit nobody explains: two coils in one pod

Every Vibe pod has two mesh coils stacked inside it rather than one, and the slider on the side of the device decides how they get used. This is not marketing dressing, it genuinely changes the vape:

• Eco. The pod fires one mesh at a time and alternates between them puff by puff. Lower power, cooler and tighter draw, and because each mesh is only doing half the work Vaporesso reckons a pod lasts substantially longer this way.

• Power. Both meshes fire together. More vapour, noticeably warmer, and a fuller flavour - at the cost of battery and of pod life.

On the SE 2 the same slider trims the airflow as it moves, so Eco is tighter in two ways at once. That is why people describe the two modes as feeling like different devices rather than a volume knob.

The two pods, and which one you want

Pods are sold by the pair of resistances printed on the box. The higher figure is what it runs in Eco, the lower is what it runs in Power.

• 0.7Ω / 1.0Ω - the tighter, cooler one. This is the pod for 20mg nic salts and the closest thing the Vibe does to a cigarette draw. If you have recently stopped smoking, start here.

• 0.6Ω / 0.8Ω - warmer and more open, with more vapour. Better suited to 10mg salts and 50/50 shortfills. It drinks liquid and battery faster than the other one.

Match the pod to your liquid rather than to your device. High-strength salts through the warmer pod is harsh, and low-strength liquid through the tighter pod leaves people feeling short-changed. Our guide to nicotine strength for beginners covers the pairings properly.

What about the XL pods?

XL pods are the same two mesh coils in a bigger pod body. They are sold on their own as an upgrade rather than coming with a kit, so they are something you add later if you want fewer refills, not something to weigh up when choosing between the two resistances.

Making a Vibe pod last

A pod is a coil with a tank attached, so everything that kills a coil kills a pod:

• Fill it and then leave it. Five minutes standing before the first puff, every single time. It is the difference between a pod that lasts a fortnight and one that tastes burnt on day one.

• Refill early. Top up at a quarter full rather than running it dry. Dry mesh is what you taste for the rest of the pod's life.

• Use Eco when you can. It exists to spread the work across both meshes, and it is the single easiest way to make pods last.

• Watch the sweeteners. Heavily sweetened liquids caramelise onto mesh faster than anything else on the shelf. Dessert and candy flavours will cost you pods.

Common questions

Do Vibe SE pods fit the Vibe SE 2? Yes, and the other way round. Same pod family across the Vibe line.

Is the pod the coil? Yes. There is no separate coil to buy or screw in - when the flavour dulls, the whole pod is replaced.

Can I use XROS pods in a Vibe? No. Different family, different fitting. Nothing from the XROS range goes into a Vibe.

Which pod comes with the kit? The 0.6Ω / 0.8Ω pod. If you are on 20mg salts and want a tighter draw, the 0.7Ω / 1.0Ω is the one to pick up alongside it.

Why does my new pod taste burnt? Almost always not enough standing time after filling, or chain vaping in Power mode. Why a vape tastes burnt runs through the rest.

How many refills do I get? Plenty - the pod gives up long before the plastic does. Change it on flavour, not on a schedule.
