Why Does My Vape Taste Burnt? (And How to Fix It)
That harsh burnt hit has a cause — and an easy fix. Here's why your vape tastes burnt and how to stop it happening aga…
Coils are the one consumable part of a refillable vape, and knowing when to swap them keeps your flavour good and your kit reliable. So how often is right?
Most coils last one to two weeks with typical use. But that's a guide, not a rule — how long yours lasts depends on a few things.
How much you vape. Heavier use wears the coil faster — a very heavy vaper might change weekly, a light one every three weeks.
Your e-liquid. Dark, very sweet or high-VG liquids gunk up coils faster. Balanced 50/50 nic salts are kinder — more on that in Nic salt vs freebase explained.
Your power setting. Running a coil above its recommended wattage shortens its life.
Priming. A coil that was primed properly when new lasts longer than one that got a dry burn on day one — see How to change your vape coil.
Don't count days — let the coil tell you. Change it when you notice:
A burnt or muted taste that a top-up doesn't fix
Less vapour than usual
A gurgling or spitting sound
Flavour that's just gone flat
Keep your tank or pod topped up — never vape it dry.
Don't chain vape; give the wick a few seconds to re-soak between puffs.
Stick near the recommended wattage.
Choose a sensible e-liquid for your kit.
A worn coil is the number one cause of a bad vape, and it's the easiest thing to fix. If yours already tastes burnt, our guide on why your vape tastes burnt walks through the fix.
