Voopoo have put the word Drag on a lot of devices, and unlike some ranges, they do not all take the same thing. There are three separate coil platforms wearing the same name, and the cartridges do not cross between them.
That is the single most useful thing to know before you buy a Drag, so it goes first.
PnP — the original. Fits the Drag X, Drag S, Drag Max and Drag E60, plus the whole Vinci line.
PnP X — the newer cartridge. Fits the Drag X2, Drag S2, Drag X3, Drag S3, Drag 5 and Drag H80S.
TPP — the high-power coil. Fits the Drag 3, Drag 4 and the Argus GT II.
The trap is the numbering. A Drag X takes PnP; a Drag X2 or X3 takes PnP X. The names are one character apart and the parts are not interchangeable. We wrote a full PnP versus PnP X guide because it is the mistake we correct most often at the counter.
Drag X — the original single-battery mod pod. PnP
Drag X3 — the current X, external battery. PnP X
Drag S3 — the same generation with a built-in battery. PnP X
Drag 5 — the big one, highest output in the range. PnP X
This is the question people actually have, and it is simpler than it looks.
X means removable battery. You buy an 18650 or 21700 separately and swap it when it dies. No downtime, but you need a charger and a spare cell.
S means built-in battery. Charge it over USB-C like a phone. Simpler, and there is nothing else to buy.
Everything else about how an X3 and an S3 vape is the same - same cartridges, same coils, same power range. Pick on how you want to deal with charging, not on performance.
If you have not owned a mod before, take the S3. Built-in battery, no extra kit, and it does everything the X3 does.
If you already have 18650s and a charger, take the X3. Swapping a cell beats waiting for a charge.
If you want the most power, take the Drag 5. It is the biggest in the range and it is genuinely a lot of device - worth handling before you commit.
If you want the original, the Drag X is still a good kit - just be aware it is on the older PnP platform, so its cartridges will not carry over if you upgrade later.
PnP comes in 0.15Ω, 0.3Ω, 0.6Ω, 0.8Ω and 1.2Ω - the widest range of the three. In stock here.
PnP X comes in 0.2Ω and 0.3Ω, aimed at higher-power direct-lung vaping.
TPP comes in 0.15Ω, 0.2Ω and 0.3Ω.
Higher ohms give a tighter, cooler draw and suit higher-strength nic salts. Lower ohms are warmer and more open, better with a shortfill, and get through liquid and battery faster.
If you already own a Drag and just need the right part, the coil finder will tell you from the device name, or there is a full guide to Voopoo coils and pods.
Full specifications are on each product page, and both Northampton shops have these out on the counter.
Two Northampton shops and a website, run by the same friendly team.
Try before you buy: pop in to Duston or Kingsthorpe, pick a kit up, try the draw, and we'll help you choose and set it up.
