Bar Juice and Crystal Nic Salts — The Disposable Flavours, in a Refillable Kit

Temple of Vape Team · August 5, 2026

Since single-use disposables went, the most common question in both our shops has been some version of: *"I liked the flavour I was getting from those — can I still get it?"*

Yes. That's exactly what bar-style nic salts are. Same flavour profiles, same 20mg nicotine hit, a fraction of the running cost, and they go in a refillable kit you charge instead of bin.

What "bar salts" actually means

Bar Juice, Crystal and Gold Bar are nic salt e-liquids formulated to taste like the disposable flavours people were already buying. They're not a different technology — they're standard 10ml nic salt bottles at 10mg or 20mg, made in flavour profiles that came out of the bar market rather than the traditional e-liquid market.

The practical difference from an older e-liquid range is the flavour style: brighter, sweeter, more heavily cooled, and more likely to be a blend of three fruits than a single one.

They're designed for pod kits — coils of 0.8Ω and above, tight MTL draw. Don't put them in a sub-ohm tank. Nic salt vs freebase explains why.

Matching what you were vaping

The flavour names don't always map one-to-one, but the profiles do. A rough translation:

  • Blue Razz / Blue Razz Lemonade → the single most-asked-for profile. Crystal and Gold Bar both do a version.

  • Cherry Ice / Fizzy Cherry → sweet cherry with a cooling finish. Bar Juice and Crystal both cover it.

  • Kiwi Passionfruit Guava → the tropical blend that was on every counter. Bar Juice do a proper version.

  • Blueberry Sour Raspberry → sharp and sweet together. Bar Juice.

  • Watermelon / Strawberry Watermelon → the summer profile, widely available across all three brands.

  • Lemon & Lime, Banana Ice, Raspberry Watermelon, Oasis → Gold Bar cover most of the citrus and soft-drink profiles.

  • Fresh Menthol Mojito, Cola Ice, Fruit Medley → Crystal's cooled and mixed-fruit end.

If you can remember the colour of the device more clearly than the flavour name — which happens more than you'd think — describe what it tasted like in the shop and we'll get you close.

The cost, honestly

This is the part worth doing the maths on. A 10ml bottle of bar salt refills a 2ml pod five times. Add a pod every week or two and a kit you charge over USB-C, and the weekly spend is a small fraction of buying a device every day or two.

Our disposable vs refillable comparison has the full breakdown, and is vaping cheaper than smoking puts it against a cigarette habit.

Which kit to put them in

Any tight-drawing refillable pod kit will do this job well:

  • A 1.2Ω or 0.8Ω pod is the right resistance for 20mg salt.

  • 20mg if you were vaping bars regularly or came straight off cigarettes; 10mg if you're stepping down or you found bars harsh.

  • USB-C charging and a 2ml refillable pod is all the specification you actually need.

Our best pod kits guide and best vape kits under £20 both cover suitable devices. Nicotine strength for beginners covers the strength choice.

Getting the most out of them

Bar-style flavours are sweet — that's the point — and sweetened liquid is harder on coils than plain menthol or tobacco:

  1. Prime new pods and wait five minutes before the first draw. How to prime a coil.

  2. Refill at a quarter full, not empty.

  3. Expect around a week from a pod on heavy sweet flavours, one to two weeks on lighter ones. How long pods last.

  4. Keep a second, lighter flavour for rotation, or you'll stop tasting your favourite. Finding your all-day vape.

Frequently asked questions

Are bar salts the same as what was in a disposable? Same style of flavour and the same nicotine strength, in a bottle. The liquid inside a disposable was a nic salt too.

Is 20mg too strong? If you were vaping bars all day, 20mg is the equivalent. If it feels harsh, drop to 10mg — it's a smoother experience and most people adjust within a day. 10mg vs 20mg.

What's the difference between Bar Juice, Crystal and Gold Bar? Different manufacturers covering broadly the same flavour territory. Crystal skews cooled and fizzy, Gold Bar skews citrus and soft-drink, Bar Juice covers the widest spread of the classic profiles.

Can I use these in a sub-ohm tank? No — 20mg nicotine at high power is harsh and wasteful. Pod kits only.

Why did disposables go? The UK banned single-use disposable vapes; rechargeable, refillable devices are unaffected. The ban explained.
