Why Does My Vape Taste Burnt? (And How to Fix It)
That harsh burnt hit has a cause — and an easy fix. Here's why your vape tastes burnt and how to stop it happening aga…
If you've noticed disposables disappearing from shelves, you're not imagining it. The UK has banned the sale of single-use disposable vapes — here's what that means for you and what to switch to.
This is for adult smokers and ex-smokers. If you don't smoke, don't start vaping.
Since 1 June 2025, it's been illegal for shops in the UK to sell single-use, disposable vapes. To be legal to sell, a vape now has to be both rechargeable and refillable — so the battery can be charged and the pod or tank can be refilled with e-liquid.
That rules out the throwaway devices, but it doesn't affect the refillable pod kits and starter kits most regular vapers already use.
The ban was driven by two big concerns:
Environmental waste — millions of disposables, each containing a battery, were being thrown away every week.
Youth appeal — cheap, brightly coloured throwaway devices were seen as too accessible to under-18s.
If you were using disposables, you'll need to move to a refillable kit. The good news is that's a change worth making anyway:
It's far cheaper. A refillable kit pays for itself quickly — the maths is in Is vaping cheaper than smoking?.
It's greener, with far less waste.
You get more control over flavour and nicotine strength.
We compared the two in detail in Disposable vs refillable.
A modern refillable pod kit is nearly as simple as a disposable: charge it, fill the pod with a nic salt that matches your strength, and vape. Our Best Beginner Vape Kits 2026 round-up picks kits that are as easy to live with as a disposable, for a fraction of the ongoing cost.
If you're moving over from disposables and want a hand choosing, our team is always happy to point you to the right kit.
