Why Does My Vape Taste Burnt? (And How to Fix It)
That harsh burnt hit has a cause — and an easy fix. Here's why your vape tastes burnt and how to stop it happening aga…
Vapers talk about finding their all-day vape — the flavour you happily reach for from morning to night without getting bored. Here's how to find yours without spending a fortune on bottles you won't finish.
For adult smokers and ex-smokers only.
Most e-liquids fall into a few groups:
Tobacco — familiar to ex-smokers, ranges from dry and earthy to sweet.
Menthol and mint — cool, crisp, and another favourite for switchers.
Fruits — from single fruits to tropical mixes; usually the most popular all-day category.
Desserts and sweets — custard, vanilla, candy; rich and moreish but can gunk coils faster.
Drinks — cola, energy, coffee and more.
Most people coming off cigarettes start on tobacco or menthol because they feel familiar. That's a smart first move — see our Beginner's Guide. But within a few weeks, the majority drift towards fruit or menthol blends as their taste buds recover from smoking. So don't judge vaping on one tobacco bottle if it doesn't grab you.
Buy small first. Try 10ml bottles before committing to a flavour you'll live with.
Change one thing at a time. If you love a strawberry, try a strawberry mix next rather than jumping to dessert.
Have two on the go. A fruit for daytime and a menthol or dessert for evening stops "vaper's tongue" — where one flavour starts to fade if you use it non-stop.
Match strength and type properly. Flavour lands differently at the right nicotine level and PG/VG ratio — see nicotine strength and PG vs VG explained.
If a flavour suddenly tastes muted or burnt, it's usually the coil, not the liquid — dark and sweet flavours wear coils faster. A fresh coil often brings a flavour right back to life.
Take your time, sample small, and you'll land on the one bottle you never get tired of.
