Uwell Caliburn Pods and Coils — A Guide to Every Model

The Caliburn is the pod kit we sell more of than any other, and for good reason: it's simple, it's reliable, and the draw is tight enough to satisfy someone who's just put the cigarettes down.

It's also the kit that generates the most "which pod do I need?" questions, because Uwell have released a lot of models with very similar names and very similar-looking pods. Here's how to get the right one.

Which pod fits which kit

The important rule first: Caliburn pods are model-specific. A G2 pod will not work in a G3, and a Koko pod is not the same as a standard Caliburn pod despite the family resemblance.

• Caliburn G3 and G4 — share the same pod. This is the current mainstream pair, and the reason we stock that pod deepest. Coils are integrated into the pod.

• Caliburn G3 Lite — a slimmer, lower-cost version with its own pod. Not the same as the G3.

• Caliburn G2 — its own pod, still widely owned, still stocked.

• Caliburn G — the original, with a separate replaceable coil rather than an all-in-one pod.

• Caliburn X — its own pod, larger capacity, adjustable airflow.

• Caliburn A2 / AK2 / Koko — the compact family, each with their own pod.

If you're unsure which you own, the model name is printed on the device body, usually near the base or under the pod.

Which resistance to buy

Most current Caliburn pods come in a small number of resistances, and the choice is genuinely simple:

• 0.8Ω — the tighter, cooler, cigarette-like draw. Best with 20mg nic salt. Longest coil life. If you switched from smoking, this is your pod.

• 0.6Ω — slightly airier and warmer, a bit more vapour. Best with 10mg salt or 50/50 liquid.

Why your Caliburn pod tastes burnt after three days

This is the single most common complaint, and it's almost always one of five things:

1. It wasn't primed. A new pod needs liquid in the fill port, then five minutes standing before the first draw. Skipping this kills a pod in a day. How to prime a coil applies to pods too.

2. Chain vaping. Three or four draws back to back outruns the wick. Space them out for the first tank.

3. Running it low. The Caliburn's wick sits near the bottom, but it still needs liquid around it. Refill at a quarter.

4. Sweetened liquid. Heavily sweetened flavours will visibly darken a Caliburn pod within days. If you love a dessert flavour, accept a shorter pod life or alternate with something lighter.

5. Old liquid. Liquid that's darkened in the bottle will gunk a pod faster. Does e-liquid expire covers what to look for.

A well-treated Caliburn pod should give you one to two weeks. If you're getting three days, one of the five above is the reason.

Common faults, quickly

• Not firing — clean the contacts on the pod and in the device with a dry cotton bud. Condensation on the contacts is the usual culprit. Why is my vape not working has the rest.

• Gurgling — too much liquid pooled in the airway, or a pod that's been over-filled. Blow gently through the pod onto a tissue.

• Weak draw — a blocked airflow slot, usually from lint. Compressed air or a dry cotton bud fixes it.

Frequently asked questions

Are Caliburn G3 and G4 pods the same? Yes — the G3 and G4 share a pod, which is why it's the easiest one to keep in stock.

Will a G2 pod fit a G3? No. Different pod, despite looking similar on the shelf.

Does the Caliburn G have replaceable coils? The original G uses a separate coil that fits into the pod. Later models moved to all-in-one pods.

How many pods in a pack? Typically two per pack, occasionally four depending on the model.

Can I refill a Caliburn pod? Yes — all the current ones are refillable through a side or top fill port. That's the whole point of the kit, and it's what makes it far cheaper to run than pre-filled alternatives.

How long should a pod last? One to two weeks with normal use and sensible liquid. Less with dessert flavours.
